Greetings You Rebel S.C.U.M.,

This is the thread to subscribe to for details on how you can get onto the [u][b]S.C.U.M. Volume 2: Crossroads of Extinction[/b][/u] compilation CD, featuring 10 Santa Cruz County Bands.

In a nutshell, S.C.U.M. is a compilation CD recorded by the bands for the fans, with the intention of building and uniting the metal scene here in Santa Cruz, so that our sleepy little town can begin to attract more and more high quality national and international touring acts. The more top-tier acts come through our town, the more opportunities local bands have to play with the best and network in the larger world wide metal community.

This CD is given away for FREE to the Santa Cruz County Metal community at the annual release party known as S.C.U.M.Fest, the first of which happened June 19th, 2010. With 20 bands and 2 stages (headlined by A Band of Orcs and Fiends at Feast) respectively, the 1st incarnation of the project was a huge underground success.

Recording is slated to start in January with engineer Kevin Lemon of Slow Roasted Recording, who also handled most of the S.C.U.M. recording duties last year.

What we are looking for is a song that has not been recorded before–something brand new for the fans that they can’t get on some other demo or hear on your myspace profile–in other words, we want something exclusive to the S.C.U.M.

The project, which really is a collective effort on the part of the bands, and the organizers will cost $350 per band breaking down as follows:

$200 to pay Kevin for recording and mixing your song. His studio is mobile, so he’ll come to you in your lair and get it done!

$150 helps pay for mastering, manufacturing and art layout/design of the physical CD.

Your inclusion on the S.C.U.M. compilation CD guarantees you a spot on the CD release party known as S.C.U.M. Fest.
